Week 5 - More Outside, More Cabinets

How many pairs of work boots does a good carpenter need?

Apparently, three.... and a single sneaker.

It's clamop-o-rama in the barn whilst the Mr. is busy gluing back together the pieces of wood he bought and chopped up.

Looks like they're not going anywhere soon.

Hang on, this is actually starting to look like a kitchen cubboard. What do you know?

Meanwhile....

Lots of work this week getting all the new siding up.

There are small details going on that the average person (like me) won't notice except for an overall feeling of rightness to the house.

Case in point, all of the front windows were slightly repositioned to give the house a more balanced look.

Back 40 is all nicely cleared out. I would love to have that little forest in my backyard.

Check this out.

It's the new boiler.

Cool thing about it is that it doesn't need a chimney.

Nope, vents right out the side of the house, so not only does that save a ton of labor on installation, I bet it will help melt snow in the winter time.

Mango Momma signing off.

  1. Nifty! Does he lay tile, too? I'm leaning toward putting tile in the bottom floor (where we don't have it already) since FEMA considers our bottom floor a walkout basement and won't cover anything (well anything useful) if it floods again... I've tried to sucker my Dad into helping but he's wriggling out of the deal.... In all seriousness the house looks like it is coming along great! (Although those kitchen cabinets look like they need a little more time before they are ready to hatch.)

  2. There are some serious changes here so far... I'm thinkin a set of Before.. and now During Pix would keep it all in perspective.. as we wait for the AFTER pix, of course.

I have no clue about the Lone tennie... but I've gotta ask?? ONLY three pairs of work boots??? On this hill... there are at LEAST 5 pairs... for WINTER and 6 for Spring/Summer/Fall... SERIOUSLY... At the very LEAST there are 11 pairs of work boot. Some with and some with/out steel toes and or high tops. AND... they are NOT NOT to be moved... for ANY reason. And THEY talk about women and our shoes.....

  3. A furnace that doesn't need a chimney? We need to tell our dad about this!
We can't wait to see more progress on the cabinets!

  4. Looking good with the renovations. Did the Master fall asleep with one shoe on because he is so tired from all his work. The little forest backyard looks so appealing. Happy building. No worries, love Carol.

  7. Nice, nice, nice new siding! And the windows look so much better now - although does going from 3 to 2 in the livingroom make it darker inside at all?

I don't want to tell you how to run your bloggie, but if I may suggest - your header photos are so "week relevant", would it be possible to edit them in at the start of each post to which they apply after their week in the spotlight is over?
